Cádiz vs Leganés: winless hosts face a stung visitor

Cádiz CF welcome CD Leganés today, 3 October 2026, on matchday 8 of the Segunda División (LaLiga Hypermotion), according to the Leganés club's official website, cdleganes.com. The game is at Cádiz's home ground, now called the JP Financial Estadio (formerly the Nuevo Mirandilla). The club site sets the scene clearly: Cádiz have not won a single game yet this 2026/27 season, and Leganés come in after a 0-2 home defeat to Castellón, who were top of the table at the time. Kick-off times differ from one source to another, so check the official listings if you plan to watch.

Diario AS focuses on how the Leganés dressing room is taking that loss. The outlet quotes head coach Rubén Albés in its headline, and his message was roughly that football is no place for the faint-hearted and there is no time to cry over a defeat. Read alongside the club's own preview, the message is clear: Leganés want to put the Castellón result behind them straight away.

On team news, cdleganes.com gives the details no other outlet in this review covers. Gharbi is back from international duty, and Tejero and Franquesa also return, Franquesa after roughly two months out. Rubén Peña and Diawara, both injured, miss the trip. The club site says Cádiz have problems too: Kovacevic is away with Serbia's under-21s, Toibibou has been called up by the Comoros, and Tabatadze, Cristian and Gocholeishvili may be out injured. The club also expects more than a hundred Leganés fans to make the journey south.

El Mundo has opened a live blog for the match, a sign of the national interest in it. That interest goes a long way to explaining why the fixture is trending on Google Trends in Spain today. A struggling home side up against a visitor stung by a heavy defeat makes this an early test for both clubs. The final score had not been confirmed by a reliable source when this review was written.
