DANA storms put most of Spain on alert this weekend

For that outlet the orange alert on August 15 covers inland Castile and Leon, parts of Aragon, La Rioja, Navarre and inland Catalonia, with yellow warnings over much of peninsular Spain and points of the Balearics, and the Canaries left out of the episode entirely. Why it is trending across Spain today is easy to grasp: the alert fell squarely on a long August bank-holiday weekend, when beaches, campsites and inland getaways are packed, and the mix of hail, flash downpours and sudden gusts is exactly what forecasters urge people to plan around. For now, none of the outlets consulted report any confirmed damage, injuries or casualties, only the standing risk of pointed local flooding.
