Who is Joan Baldoví, a leading figure of Compromís?

Joan Baldoví i Roda was born in Sueca on 7 August 1958. According to El Temps, dated 10 May 2023, he worked the fields with his father from age 8 to 27, and knew the intellectual Joan Fuster through a brother-in-law. He is married to Pepi Anaya, a teacher of Valencian.

His local roots run deep. He was a Sueca town councillor for fourteen years, then mayor of the town from 2007 to 2011. From 2011, he moved into elected roles with wider reach.

On the party and institutional side, he is president of Més-Compromís and the group's spokesperson at the Corts Valencianes.

One episode marked 2025. In August 2025, his official CV listed a "licenciado en Magisterio" degree, a qualification title that does not exist. According to OKDiario, dated 11 August 2025, then El Debate, dated 13 August 2025, the listing was corrected within 48 hours of the story breaking.

On his ambitions, Baldoví said, according to Valencia Plaza, dated 12 May 2026: "Me siento preparado y con fuerzas para ser el próximo presidente de la Generalitat" ("I feel ready and strong enough to be the next president of the Generalitat").
