Who is Anna Moner, the painter who became a leading voice of Valencian literature?
Anna Moner was born in Vila-real, in the Plana Baixa, on 3 September 1967. She now lives in Beneixida (Ribera Alta), where her painting studio and writing space are based. A graduate in art history, she has worked as an artistic duo with Sebastià Carratalà since 1987; painting fills her mornings, writing her afternoons.
Her honours include the Enric Valor Prize 2010, the Alfons el Magnànim / Ciutat de València Prize 2014 for "El retorn de l'hongarès," the Túria and Dracs de Sant Jordi prizes in 2015, the Critics' Prize (essay) in 2016, the 30th Ciutat d'Alzira Prize 2018 ("La mirada de vidre"), the Best Novel prize at the 2024 Festival València Negra, and a 2024 Literary Excellence Award.
She was named the first "Ambaixadora de la Lectura" (Reading Ambassador) of the Generalitat Valenciana (exact date not found).
