Safor buses go free for 2 months, Valencia opens €10m dana aid

Today's essentials (3 key points)

  • Valencia will stay overcast today with temperatures between 14°C and 20°C and light wind, according to Open-Meteo.
  • Two women were injured in a crash involving two cars and a pedestrian in Torrent on Sunday 1 November, according to Hortanoticias.
  • The DGT reported more than 28 kilometres of tailbacks on Valencia's A-7 and V-31 motorways on the morning of Monday 2 November, Las Provincias said.

Today's essentials

Safor buses go free for 2 months, Valencia opens €10m dana aid. The Generalitat Valenciana opened a window on Monday 2 November for dana hit vehicle owners in the Safor and Marina Alta to apply for aid worth up to €15,000, while buses across southern Safor became free for two months, according to Noticias CV.

From 9am on Monday 2 November until 11:59pm on Sunday 1 February 2027, drivers whose vehicles were destroyed in the dana known as Adam can apply to the Generalitat Valenciana for compensation, reports Noticias CV. The vehicle aid line is worth €10 million, part of a wider €43.5 million post-dana recovery package that Juanfran Pérez Llorca's Generalitat Valenciana put together, according to Valencia Extra.

The storm that triggered this, named Adam, struck the Safor (Gandia, Oliva) and the Marina Alta (Xàbia, Dénia) on 19 October 2026, dumping up to 500 litres per square metre in Gandia and cutting off roads, Estrella Digital reported at the time. Infojucar's rain gauge data put Barx at 144 l/m2, the Marxuquera area of Gandia at 129 l/m2, and Rafelcofer at a similar level, among the hardest hit points inland from the coast.

The clearest practical change lands on public transport: buses on the Gandia-Bellreguard route, in southern Safor, now run four times as often in one direction and three times as often in the other, with extra weekend and public holiday services, Valencia Extra reports. The whole southern Safor network is free to ride for two months from 2 November, and in Oliva the Generalitat is now covering the cost of the municipal bus line to the town's beach, a free route the town hall had already launched on its own, according to Noticias CV.

The payout scales with the vehicle: €250 for a moped, €2,000 for a car or van up to 3,500kg, €2,500 for a vehicle adapted for reduced mobility, €3,000 for a van between 3,500kg and 12,000kg, €9,000 for a truck over 12,000kg or a road tractor, up to €15,000 for a bus or coach, and between €200 and €8,000 for agricultural or work vehicles, according to Valencia Extra. To qualify, Noticias CV notes the vehicle must have been insured, have had a total loss claim filed, and be deregistered with the DGT (Spain's traffic authority) before the application goes in.

Ce que ca change pour toi (what this means for you): for English speaking residents around Gandia, Oliva, Xàbia or Dénia whose car, van or motorbike was written off in October's floods, the practical deadline is 1 February 2027 at 11:59pm, and the paperwork trail starts with the insurance total loss declaration and DGT deregistration, both needed before you apply. If you commute or travel through southern Safor in the meantime, factor in the free fares and the reinforced Gandia-Bellreguard timetable, though both are due to run out around early January 2027 unless the Generalitat extends them, Noticias CV reports.

Weather today

Valencia weather today: overcast, 14-20°C. Valencia will see overcast skies today with temperatures between 14°C and 20°C and wind gusts up to 10 km/h, according to Open-Meteo.

Transport & traffic

  • Two women injured in Torrent crash involving two cars and a pedestrian. Two women were injured on Sunday 1 November in a crash between two cars that also involved a pedestrian on Carrer del Professor Idilio Gimeno in Torrent, according to Hortanoticias. The street sits in a mixed residential and commercial stretch of Torrent where car and pedestrian traffic often overlap; for anyone walking or driving through this part of town, the incident is a reminder to take extra care at crossings along that road, Hortanoticias notes.
  • Two injured as car and motorbike collide on Valencia's Avenida del Cid. Hortanoticias reports that two people were injured on Sunday afternoon, just after 3pm, when a car collided with a motorcycle on Avenida del Cid in Valencia. Avenida del Cid is one of the busiest arteries linking the city centre to the southern districts, so for anyone riding a scooter or motorbike along that corridor, the crash underlines how much mixed traffic it carries throughout the day, Hortanoticias reports.

What's changing for you

  • Where to find the cheapest petrol in Valencia today, from €1.469 a litre. The cheapest litre of fuel in the Comunitat Valenciana today costs €1.469, letting drivers save up to €19 on a full tank, according to Las Provincias. If you're filling up in Valencia, Alicante or Castellón this week, it's worth comparing before you pull in: Las Provincias' daily roundup tracks which stations currently offer that lowest rate, so checking prices before a long drive can make a real difference to your monthly budget.
  • DGT reports 28km of tailbacks on Valencia's A-7 and V-31 this Monday. The DGT reported more than 28 kilometres of tailbacks on Valencian roads first thing this Monday 2 November, concentrated on the A-7 and the V-31, according to Las Provincias. If your commute runs through either motorway this morning, building in extra time is the safer bet: this kind of start of week build up tends to ease by mid morning, so checking live DGT traffic info before you leave can help you avoid the worst of it.
